Health & Wellness Initiatives

The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge acknowledges the importance of promoting programs, social awareness, and events regarding health and wellness amongst African-American men. In partnership with other local organizations, the 100 offers these events across the Baton Rouge community in alignment with our “Health and Wellness” pillar.

LIVE WELL Baton Rouge – Community Health Event:

During this event, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center partner together every year to provide free prostate cancer screenings for black men of all ages. During the event, participants also receive free screenings for Colorectal and Skin Cancer, free yoga class, and cooking tutorials for healthier living.

Don’t Miss a Beat – Heart Health Event:

During this event, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge and Gloryland Baptist Church partner together to offer free Heart Health & Carotid Screenings, free Covid-19 vaccines & boosters, along with cooking & exercise demonstrations.

Run The Bluff 5K Race:

During this event, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge and Southern University Athletics partner together to host a unique 5K race promoting better health for all community stakeholders. This year over 100 people came out and participated in the race including men, women, and kids.
