Four For The Future™ represents the four areas in which the 100 delivers its core programmatic initiatives. These programs are designed to inspire, educate and provide assistance to youth from disadvantaged communities so that they can become self-reliant, productive members of society.
Mentoring: OUr Cornerstone for Growth
Mentoring is the cornerstone of the 100 and is provided to black males in grades 6-12 through the flagship program, Project Excel (this should be a link). Following its motto, “What They See Is What They’ll Be,” the 100 very succinctly expresses how youth are mentored and supported to develop essential life skills, improve academic performance, and develop citizenship.
The 100 also provides one-on-one mentoring and group mentoring to members of our local Collegiate 100 chapter at Southern University. The primary purpose of the Collegiate 100 program is to provide an avenue for the 100 to continue mentoring students as they matriculate from high school to college.
Education: Preparing Young People for Fulfilling Careers
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. For over 25 years the 100 has worked with parents, families, community partners, and schools to provide African American youth with access to high quality programming opportunities. Our educational programs provide an individualized teaching approach that prepares youth for school and life, while building their creativity and helping them to become the best version of themselves while creating a better future. Our Education Programs include:
Economic Empowerment: Responsibility and Investment
The 100 considers economic empowerment necessary in creating just societies around the world. We define economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them, and ultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. We sponsor two financial literacy programs that impart youth with the knowledge necessary to create a foundation of wealth creation:
Health & Wellness: Promoting healthy lifestyles
The 100’s health and wellness goals are to raise awareness, provide access to health care and give health information that will ultimately promote behavior change resulting in a healthier lifestyle. The 100 believes health and wellness is essential to reducing health risks, creating safe communities, improve productivity, improving mental health, and fostering social and emotional growth. The 100 offers two health and wellness programs and also partners with local, state, and federal officials and community health providers to host health screenings, community walks, townhalls, and more. Our Health and Wellness Programs include:
